Happy first Birthday Daniela!!

It's just amazing that already 1 year has passed since my little girl captured my heart just by grabbing my finger a few minutes after being born.

1 amazing year has passed, she has changed from being a little baby that only ate, slept and shit; into a young girl that responds to your attention, smiles to everyone, loves the challenges and overcomes all the obstacles in her path, and she just made her first steps during the last 2 weeks.

Within no time she will be running around, going to school, making friends, having problems, etc. But for today all I can say is: Happy Birthday Daniela, my little and beloved daughter.

The best way to end of a hard week

It has been some tough 5 days, some new modifications and new features just came even after investing so much time in here. A lot of time has been spent from our side into finishing satisfactorily this project and things are finally looking better, it looks like we will be able to finalize everything by next Thursday.
But the best thing came today at around 5pm when as it the tradition the office, we got a 10 min free massage, it's something that should go standard into companies.
To even make it better after coming back to the hotel we spent some time in the pool and then sauna, so although still working it is way easier to keep on going now.

Mental note: Always ask about this type of work/life balance extra benefits before accepting a job offer.

Interesting phrases from this week

"What are you doing wearing a red shirt? It's my favourite color, but I have never met a man that likes to wear red!" Question: "Are you telling me I am special? Shall I thank you for the comment?"
"I am very happy that xxx is here" Question: Are you trying to tell me something about my visit?
"It was too beautiful to be true" Question: What are you trying to say? You never truly believed it will actually happen?
My colleague tells a hotel clerk that his room key is not working, his answer is "Sir where were you today? Because if you went to an ATM you should know that is not a credit card!" Referring to the access card to the room. Question: Do you think everyone will try the hotel room key in an ATM as you did before?
"That is life!" Just a better way to say "Shit happens"

Interesting Belgian Traditions

Although a bit late, here are some pictures from the Sart Carnival.

It was interesting to see all the work that a small community like that would put into a carnival, an activity that last only 1 day but that unites family and friends in 2 different towns.

Just to give you an idea all of the floats that you see in these pictures are made with papercut flowers, which after being cut, rolled and pasted are put in place in the float. Easily a float can have between 500 and 3,000 flowers, some nice homework for the cold winters ah?

Daniela, almost 1 year old already

Well a little photo update on little Daniela who this next 21st will be already 1 year old, it is just amazing how fast time flies!!.

As you can see from the pictures she has grown to be a very smiley baby, who loves to socialize with other people, and actually loves to have attention from someone and responds by smiling to them (even if she only has 4 teeth and resembles more a Vampire and anything else), which as shown can melt even the hardest person.

1 year almost gone by, let the second and even harder challenges come!

Here are a couple of pictures of Manto and Maria Virginia two good friends from my hometown and AIESEC alumni, and who are living now in Belgium and the Netherlands, it was great seeing them again.

In Istanbul

After a no too productive time in Moscow, I found myself in the magical Istanbul. The amazing sunrises full with mist, the sounds of the call to prayers, the smell of the scents, the memories of my first trip into this great city they all come together to me.
I can only wish that I can find the time go to sultanahmet and see the beautiful Haghia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace, enjoy some food and Turkish coffee in Taksim (getting my fortune read in the coffee of course), go to the Spices bazaar (or Egyptian Bazaar) to get some fresh Turkish delights, walk over the golden horn and stroll near to the Galata Tower, enjoy the view from Ortakoy of the Bosphorus and go and enjoy a sunset in front of the maiden tower.
Saturday or Sunday should be the days for that! But no pictures this time, as due to the hurry in which I left Moscow, I forgot my camera there :'-(
